#PodcastPick - The Adam Buxton Podcast: Episode 85
The Adam Buxton Podcast – ‘Number 85: Michael Scott Moore’
I always enjoy the leisurely ramble chats of Adam Buxton, but this week’s episode saw a departure from his usual, relatively silly tradition. After his standard introduction with Rosie the dog, Buxton sits down with journalist and novelist Michael Scott Moore, to talk about the 977 days he spent as a hostage of Somalian pirates near the coastal town of Galkayo.
Moore was in the area researching the phenomenon of contemporary piracy for his next book, but unfortunately his intrigue did not go unnoticed. On the return journey from dropping a colleague at the airport, Moore was ambushed by an armoured car, and brutally kidnapped.
The subject might sound harrowing, but Buxton’s gentle curiosity and Moore’s insightful narrative make their conversation remarkably easy listening. Moore relays fascinating details of his attempted escape, his eventual rescue, the things which kept him sane and the things which didn’t.
Tune in for a treat!
